| ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SIX DOOR BOOKCASE STORAGE CUPBOARD 1880 |
A very substantial and large Victorian pine cupboard with 6 doors. We have 2 more in stock, un restored as yet, so flexible on colour schemes.
Probably made for a school, chapel or other utilitarian purpose, hence well built and sturdy.
The cupboard is divided into three sections, each of which is shelved, three spaces, 230mm apart, bottom space 470mm. Cleaned and sanded inside.
Outside the old paint is multi layered, showing blues, creams, final layer a pale blue grey.
Replacement locks and keys, replacement antique escutcheons.
There are plenty of signs of wear, old repairs and marks, bumps and dents etc, proving this piece to be as authentic as can be. But overall the book case is in time worn but excellent condition, no structural damage or wood worm.
A replacement antique timber moulding has been added to the base, the original one being too untidy to keep.
A fabulous piece of storage..if you have the space!

| ANTIQUE RUSTIC WALL HERB RACK / WALL SHELF WITH PEGS 1840 |
Very rural and rustic in origin and character, this rare herb rack was found in good condition and colour.
It does show the rustic heritage, plenty of bumps and a fair amount of old worm holes, but you'd think it odd if it didn't have this kind of character.
These racks are often found in large farmhouse kitchens, have seen them in Scandinavia and then again in Romania, Hungary, Spain etc. Often painted and decorated, this one just in the old mellow pine.
Two shallow shelves for plate/ jelly jar storage, a long pegged rail below to hang your herbs for drying or maybe your hat!
The lovely undulating top bar (can be omitted) is to secure additional plates, too big to go on the shelves.
If you have the space, this is an impressive country rack for use or display.

Minimal, but pretty decorative detail on the top shelf and below the base, fine reeding framing all shelves.
A good medium size, the shelves deep and high enough for sizable books or collectables.
The broad back boards and tight construction make for a good solid piece of shelving.

| ANTIQUE PINE DRESSER / BOOK CASE / SHELF UNIT 1850 |
An antique rustic pine cupboard of medium proportions, constructed from pine, found in old, but not original, muted blue/grey paint.
A 12 drawer bank of drawers occupies the bottom half of the cabinet. The dove tailed drawers graduate from top to bottom and are fitted with original porcelain handles, all intact. Traces of earlier layers of paint beneath the blue, mostly earthy reds , turquoise and cream.(see photo 6)
The book case space above is fitted with various sized cubby holes.
The cabinet dates from the middle of the 19th century and is in near perfect condition. No repairs , no damage, no worm. Turned feet have been replaced due to too much wear.
This piece is incredibly well constructed and heavy, yet the appearance is charming and rustic.
Useful in kitchen, lounge, office or bathroom etc.

Probably made for a school, chapel or other utilitarian purpose, hence well built and sturdy.
The cupboard is divided into two sections, each of which is either shelved and pigeon holed and shelved. The left hand cupboard had one shelf removed to accommodate some larger items, but another shelf could be added on request.
Overall the book case is in good condition, no structural damage or wood worm.
Locks and keys in working order, replacement turned Victorian knobs.
There are signs of wear, old marks of lost catches, bumps and dents etc (see pic 5), but in no way distracting from the tactile character of a well used piece of Victorian pine.

| ANTIQUE PINE GLAZED BOOKCASE IN ORIGINAL PAINT |
A wonderful example of an early Victorian classic double door bookcase vitrine.
Rarely found in original untouched condition, still in the paint finish it was first made in, a lovely elaborate rosewood in this case.
It also has very fine architectural features:
* crisply turned full Ionic pillars either side,
* intricate mouldings around the original glass windows ,
* chunky hand turned feet (one of the blocks on the back has been replaced),
*breakfront base
*original escutcheons,catches and lock ( there is no key at the moment, but it will receive a period reproduction)
*original adjustable ladder shelf system and 4 original shelves.
The dark buttermilk coloured interior paint is clean bar the very base, which shows old ring marks. ( see photo 2).
The bookcase is in excellent condition, a small damage on the cornice, (see photo3) is all one could report.
This piece can be left as is for the purist, stripped and wax polished or painted to suit a colour scheme. Please ask for a quote.

A good looking antique pine bookcase of large proportions.
Useful for any amount of storage in the living room , lounge , office , kitchen or children's rooms, a multi purpose piece to say the least.
It came to us like this, already stripped and waxed and we believe it was used in a shop as a shop fitting .
It is constructed from yellow pine and has good sized shelve ,interesting decorative mouldings (photo 4 ) and traditional cornice .The well used waxed timber has signs of usage in the shape of dents and dings, but no other damage.
Altogether a solid chunky piece country pine.

A rustic continental bookcase / storage unit of medium proportions, constructed from pine and painted over the original but damaged finish in a fresh off-white / dove blue interior combination.
Nicely columned along the sides,carved detail and intricate deep cornice.
A 9 drawer bank of drawers occupies the bottom half of the cabinet.The drawers are all of the same size, dove tailed and fitted with original wooden handles.There are some repairs to the drawer bottoms.
The book case space above is fitted with a single shelf.
The cabinet dates from the latter part of the 19th century and has seen some use, but is sturdy, in good condition and ready for use.
A rural piece with ample character.
Useful in kitchen, lounge, office or bathroom.

Originating from the now demolished Leeds main Post Office building, dating back to mid Victorian times, these shelves have been a great find.
The lovely thick period pine, cleaned and waxed, gives the pigeon holes a most tactile and irresistible look, most people need to stoke the wood!!
Added bonus are the original number stencils, to be found on most bottom sections. See photos 6 to 9.
But, not only handsome, also useful, in every which way one might to place them, upright or horizontally, good for all sorts of storage or display.
Best ones we've had for a while!
No worm or structural damage, just good old fashioned wear and tear.

An original Victorian pine book shelf, a rather larger than standard size.
Built in the Victorian era, using pine and what would have been the most modern innovation at the time, laminated wood, ie plywood for the back.
Substantial and sturdy, shelves abundant, spaced in varying distances to accommodate most shapes of books.
In overall good condition, a small repair to the back "foot", seen in photo no 5 . No worm.
A useful shelf for lounge, hall, office or kitchen.

Victorian at least, found in a local mill store room, made from heavy duty solid pine and constructed in the good old fashioned way, to stand the course of time.
Very heavy and in one piece ( consider access ) cleaned, sanded and left with the original traces of paint.
The paint colour is best seen in last photo, no 9.
A fine combination of well worn pine and original light sage / grey paint. The left hand side is not painted, plain pine.
The pigeon holes are a good usable size, big enough for large books, crockery in the kitchen or collections of sort.
The shelf is left un- waxed, in case sensitive items have to be stored, but it can be waxed or varnished to order, just ask.

A rare find, a fine Georgian pine delft rack in excellent condition.
Typical well built construction with tenon jointed shelves, stop moulded fronts, decorative curtained cornice and original brass hooks.
Pleasing proportions, nearly square, rich patina.
The shelf is braced with an additionl middle support for stability. No worm.
Three shelves in total, not counting the top.
A shallower space between the two bottom shelves, reserved for spice and herb jars.
A lovely early piece of English pine.

Pretty small size bookcase, dating from 1880, originating from Denmark or northern Germany.
Craftsman built with finely executed mouldings, turned full columns and break front construction.
Fully shelved,clean inside with added storage in a full width drawer below, original brass knob.
The shelves are not fixed, so could be moved to accommodate a flat screen TV.
Overall in good condition, no major repairs or worm.
Painted in Crown's Historic Range 'Parchment' and slightly distressed for the château chic look.
Very usable in lounge, office, landing, hall, bathroom or as a toy cupboard.

Double panelled sides, moulded cornice with top-over and a nice deep original Victorian plinth, 4 shelves and 5 good spaces, even for deeper books.
Clean and wax ploished.
