antique pine double country wardrobe

Item Ref

A very substantial early pine double country wardrobe, originating from the northern Continent, Denmark or Germany.
Dating from the equivalent of the late Georgian era, 1800 to 1820, this wardrobe is made from yellow pine to a very good standard:
- dove tailed construction to top and base
- hand forged external drop hinges
- original pewter escutcheons
- original lock with replacement key
- paneled side and door construction
- rounded corners and original rounded cornice
The wardrobe dismantles for transport and access and is ready to use. A new brass rail has been fitted inside and this wardrobe has an internal depth of 21 1/2".
The condition of this piece is very good, there is no structural damage.
The plinth and the back feet had to be replaced , they were damaged a long time ago and distracted from the otherwise clean wardrobe.
There are traces of old woodworm holes in the floor panel and a strip of the backboards, but these have been doubly treated. There is no sign of activity.
Altogether a chunky country piece of good proportions , harder and harder to find in this condition.
Dimensions: 75" ( 1095mm) high
67" (1700mm) wide
25 1/4" (640mm0 deep
21 1/2" (545mm) internal depth
