antique danish bornholmer longcase clock 1850

| $766 USD | €652 EUR

Item Ref

A rare and interesting Danish longcase clock, made on the island of Bornholm around 1840.
Equivalent to the Swedish Mora clocks, built in pine and modelled on the then popular British grandfather clocks.
This clock is in original paint, traditional dark green, barn red and gold leaf, originally quite highly polished to impress the potential buyer.
the paint is good, but worn in many places, giving it the antique look. characterful.
The clock works are in good condition, have been checked, working a 7 day system and hourly strike. It will need more attention, it looses 10 minutes a day and stops occasionally.
Original key, undamaged pendulum and cast iron weights are present. The clock face is enamel, very worn, cream coloured, with hand painted black Roman numerals, very faint floral decor and delicate brass fingers.
Decorative throughout, intricate gallery style head piece, champhered and gold leaved wreath clock face surround, pillars, garlands, original hand blown glass, original lock and key on the door, both working.
A rare clock, if it was in perfect working order (as mentioned before, this is not...), this kind of clock would sell for large amounts ...please see
