Description
A fine example of an good quality European pine box settle, dating from around 1870.Built in time honoured traditional style, heavy and sturdy, tenon jointed and additionally pegged.
The settle comes in it's original light blue / beige / brown colour scheme, it has not been stripped or repainted.
Hence the finish is quite rustic, well used and worn, the kind of look that cannot be replicated.
A well fitting lid, gently swept arms, turned half spindle shaped supports and a pretty undulating back rest, with a particularly pretty classic centre piece, all add to the country feel.
The inside of the storage box is clean, the floor very tidy and solid. A replacement lid prop rests on the right hand side. No worm.
There are no repairs to the legs and the settle has a good seating height.
A good quality and charming piece of genuine country pine, ready to use.
