Description

A very beautiful and rarely found Regency / Biedermeier pine chest of drawers, originating from Scandinavia, Sweden or Denmark. Often these chests are Mahogany or other hardwoods, so pine is unusual.
A very heavy and thick timbered piece, the base moulding is nearly 5cm thick, the top a whopping 3cm.
Despite the chunkyness it displays typical Biedermeier elegance, three deep ogee shaped drawers, seperated by thick half round mouldings, pewter grip handles (not original) and a superbly undulating bracket foot base.
The drawers are heavy and the runners were worn, but are now repaired and they are running smoothly again.
Good yellow Scandinavian pine, with signs of 200 years of use, some worm holes scattered, but overall clean and full of character.
A rare style, origin and quality of chest, suitable for a multitude of locations and uses.
Dimensions:
895mm wide
815mm high
540mm deep
