Description
An unusual very old, I presume Regency, pumpkin top spice tin, found in original paint finish.The tin has survived a nearly 200 year span of life, showing plenty of scuffs and scratches, but the hinge and the metal is in good condition.
The paint is a mellow pumpkin colour, the lid shaped mimicking the same, a little metal loop fitted to the top.
A whimsical 'SPICE' is written in black letters on the front of the tin.
The inside is divided into six compartments, for the main spices used at the time, such as cloves, ginger, allspice, cinnamon, mace and nutmeg. A small metal slide is situated inside the lid, presumably to hold a grater, which is missing.
A lovely little decorative tin, more interesting because most are black or just metal.
