antique pine double pedestal washstand in original paint 1860

Item Ref

A pretty painted gallery back washstand on double pedestal base, in un-touched state.
Early to mid Victorian era, probably part of a bigger suite originally.
A very well designed piece, craftman's made and painted. It stands well and has no structural damage, some signs of shrinkage, but not detrimental to the structural integrity.
The original paint resembles Bird's Eye Maple, which is a hard timber to copy, the craft being a dying art, to be sure.
The paint work is in superb condition, given the age, only slightly worn on the front of the top ( photos 13 and 14).
A faint green outline accentuates the mellow colour.
A fine Victorian piece of pine in original condition, useful as a hall stand, desk or side table, certainly a focal and talking point.
1020mm wide base
990mm wide top
950mm high
530mm deep
