antique pine farmhouse cottage extension kitchen table with painted base 1880

Item Ref

A tidy, yet rustic extension table, dating from the mid to late 19th century, country style.
Made by a craftsman, pleasing turned legs, tenon jointed and pegged base, in very good condition.
A substantial pine top with bread- boarded ends, all parts original.
Found all over Europe in various styles, this type of table is often found in small farm cottages where it doubles as work and dining table.
This one stems from Hungary and is larger than most when extended.
One can see clearly from the photos, the double top flips over to open, then swivels to double the surface.
The base has been painted over the original brown scrumble, in a warm French grey, which can be changed easily upon request.
Added bonus is the storage space below the flip top, handy for kitchen utensils or cloths etc.
Unopened the table will seat 4 comfortably, opened 6 easily, see photo 5.
A practical table for the smaller space.
We have 2 sets of 4 chairs suitable for this table, please check in the chairs category.
