A very substantial and exceptionally wide pine double wardrobe, originating from the northern Continent, Denmark or Germany.
Known in the trade as a 'landing robe', because large pieces like this were kept on the landing of a big house to store linen and winter clothing.
Special features:
- dove tailed construction
- hand forged hinges and catches
- iron escutcheons
- original lock, dated 1887 and key
- fielded panelled sides and doors
- rounded corners and original cornice
- very nice period colour and ornamentation
- original large ball feet

The wardrobe dismantles for transport and access and is ready to use. A new brass rail has been fitted inside and this wardrobe has an internal depth of 20", deep enough for the broadest shoulders!
The condition of this piece is very good, no repairs and no structural damage.
Altogether a substantial country piece of interesting proportions, very suitable for a rustic setting.
