antique decorative hardwood column mirror in original paint finish 1860

Item Ref

An impressive carved and turned column hardwood mirror, dating from the middle of the 19th century.
The mellow walnut coloured frame displays a classical decorative pattern. Breakfront construction with an impressive multi layered cornice, a deep plinth to stand, the rest of the frame is moulded, carved and pillared.
The colour of the timber is deep and rich, weathered with the passing of time. Remnants of ancient worn paint, pale dove grey and a deep mustard are highlighting the contrast beautifully.
This mirror is quite heavy and will have to be hung securely, therefore lends itself as a dressing mirror or standing hall mirror.
Saying that, to secure to the wall, 2 very strong iron ring fittings are found on the top rail to facilitate that.
Certainly a statement mirror!
