A graceful and decorative antique pine farmhouse settle, dating from the mid to late 19th century in very good condition.
Typical deeply swept arm rests with turned spindle panel sides, double cabriole legs and arms, a double panelled back further decorated with a swept back rest..
Found in this style from Scandinavia to Hungary, often used in farmhouse kitchens to seat the farm workers or sleep the children.
This bench is in sound structural condition. No structural repairs, minimal signs of old worm holes, treated and obsolete.
A sought after size.
The paint on this settle is a combination of old and new, a muted warm original denim blue, a regency style colour in a flat matt finish, very distressed / crackled and overpainted with a white wash.
Ideal as a dining table bench, hall bench or to use in the garden house.
A wonderful witness of times gone by and a loved piece of furniture!!
