Description
Early Victorian tall pine chest of 5 drawers, two short over three long ones.Full set of original oak hand turned knobs, all in excellent condition.
A nicely proportioned piece, not too deep.
The chest is in very good order, drawers running well, dovetailed all round, could even be a Georgian chest.. backboards running horizontally.
Incidently, the backboards are blue, the paint reluctant to come off, so to preserve the rest of the chest during the stripping process, it has been left on.
Original turned tulip feet, standing solidly.
There are not many signs of wear, drawer bottoms and plinth all in solid condition. No repairs or worm, a slight usage connected wear on the top, shown in the last two photos.
A well built and nicely proportioned chest, the nearly square shape pleasing to the eye, the pale mellow pine waxed and buffed to a subtle sheen.
