antique swedish painted pine glazed kitchen dresser 1850

Item Ref

A particularly pleasing Swedish kitchen dresser or köksskåp, found in near perfect condition.
Made around 1850, in pine and formerly grain painted to resemble oak or a finer timber.
This type of glazed cupboard was often found in the kitchen area of a good house to hold finer pieces of china and utensils.
The detail on this dresser is sublime, the execution of the fine mouldings, cornice, dove tailed and pegged construction throughout most remarkable.
It is a country piece, so has all the attributes of styling, leather embossed escutcheons, original locks with replacement keys, hand blown original glass, country crown, etc.
The interior has been repainted a long time ago, a mellow old cream, but we dry scraped the interior door frames to show the original cobalt blue finish,..
The base cupboard is shelved and clean pine.
We have painted this cupboard in a clean chalky white by Farrow and Ball, 'Pointing', which perfectly emultates the traditional pale muted Swedish look.
This dresser has no damage, no replacements, no worm, a gem of Swedish country pine.
1990mm high plus 80mm for the crown
1170mm wide
420mm deep
