A rustic yet elegant example of a mid 19th century pine farmhouse settle in traditional style.
The pleasing shape is typical of that period and this style ranges from Scandinavia to southern Europe.
Construction is solid, a chunky style, all connecting parts are tenon jointed and pegged additionally.
Swan neck arm rests, elaborate wavy back, spindle supports and a good flat seat.
The body is solid and stands well, straight legs front and back, pads a later addition.
No structural damage or repairs, minimal traces of old worm scattered, treated of course and obsolete.
The distressed paint is a mix of very old whites, rubbed back to the warm pine beneath. Buffed to a satin finish.
A good short size, difficult to find.
