antique pine stacking storage cupboard campaign chest 1880

Item Ref

A rare and interesting pine stacking cupboard or deed safe, usually found in solicitor's or dignitary's offices for safe keeping of documents and deeds.Often referred to as campaign chests, military use, but seem to big for that!
The idea is to be able to grab the cupboard sections and take to safety when needed, maybe in the case of fire or flood.
Not often found complete, the cupboard sections can easily be separated over time.
This is a late 19th century example, featuring a fine moulded break front cornice, original pewter escutcheons, external iron hinges, plain decorative detail and reeded mouldings between the sections.
Big iron and pewter carrying handles on each section.
Dove tailed construction throughout.
The cupboard is in good condition, no damage, no worm.
Every section has a working lock and key and is fitted with one lose shelf.
Easy to transport as it separates into the three sections.
These pieces are rare....useful in lounge, kitchen, office etc.
