Description
An exquisitely carved decorative French Louis XV double bed, dating from around 1880.All structural parts and the very well executed carvings are made from solid walnut and the panels quarter veneered.
Beautifully shaped head and foot board, gently molded and decorated side rails,ornate sturdy escargot feet and original steel screw fittings complete the picture of a typical chateau style double bed.
There is a 2 inch spot of slight undulation in the veneer, below the headboard, invisible when the mattress is in place.
A good quality bed which has been painted in Farrow and Ball 'Joa's White', distressed and waxed to give it a new lease of life.
The bed dismantles into 4 parts and a wooden slatted bed base is provided.
